This week we'll start reading a series of three speeches. This week we'll focus on Sojourner Truth's "Ain't I a Woman" speech. Here's what you have to do for this week's blog response:
Think about an issue (problem) in your school, neighborhood, country, or world. Take a minute to jot down a problem that you'd like to speak about later in this unit, such as neighborhood rivalries, homelessness, racism, guns/violence, or teen pregnancy. My friend 13 cousin got pregnant and had her baby. She cant she her baby and has to take parenting classes in order for the baby to live with her. I would like to write a speech about this because that isn't right and i no her personally. Some solutions to this problem is her doing what she got to do to get her baby.All i can persuade is don't have kids while your young unless you know you ready for the big responcibility

My speech is going to be about Homosexuality and Bi-sexuality and about how people with different sexual orientation should be allowed to get married. This problem is on my mind because some people think that things like this are a joke or don't take it seriously. I want to talk about this because I want people to understand that people with different sexual orientation should be accepted into society with open arms.

ReplyDeleteRacism is growing more n' more each day cause family member of mines was being harassed by tha police and did nothing wrong , jus cause he waas drinking a beer . I would like to write a speech about this problem cause you treat people with diffrent types of respect cause of their skin color. i dont know no solutions but is a problem that aint dead yet. how i persuade my class is if people cant accept you, then tell"em to kick rocks

People don't really know the importance of recycling or going 'green'. They are not aware of how much harm they are doing to the planet and how it will affect them in the future. But with a few steps, they can decrease the harm and end up finding a new way to live.

i think a big problem is money. i think it is something everyone needs and something everyone has a problem with. if more jobs were availible and more people were willing to do more things i think it would satify everyone.

1. A problem today in the world that I think is becoming very popular and is an issue, is the mininmum wage a job pays today.
ReplyDelete2. This problem is in my mind because I have witnessed being paid the minimum wage. And as a young adult, also mother, I have bills and responsibilities to take care of and pay. And my checks were barely enough to save.
3. I would like to write a speech about this problem because I know there are other people who can relate and agree with me. And maybe a positive change can be made.
4. A first and satisfying solution would be, that the minimum wage is increased. At least by a dollar or two.
5. I would like to persuade my classmates, by maybe talking them into the idea. Making charts and grapha on how the low income has mad an effect on others. Hopefully, that's a start!

Cause Down in El Salvador is like poor, yea you can have a job and get money but you dont get that much money you get a least about 4.50 an hour i guess.

i would like to write a spech about this problem because i would like to have people down there get paid a little more to feed there love ones and have things they need.

standing up for the people that working so hard to get money in there pockets and talking to the government down there bout making a difference on the incomes down there.

One problem that I seem to have a problem with is the number of students that actually make it into college and graduate High school. I find this to be a problem because most of our generation aren't successful and seem to go in the wrong path. A problem I have identified is how people care so little about recycling. I have this problem on my mind because it affects everyone in the world. I want to do a speech about this because maybe I can change at least one person's mind about how important it is to recycle. Some solutions to this problem is by showing people how it can affect the world. I would tell my classmates to please help out not only other people, but themselves by "going green" and help save the earth.

The problem i identified is getting denied at jobs because of our appearance. This problem is to my mind because i have seen a number of people get denied for the way they go dressed to an interview and or cause they dont use big words when they talk. I want to write a speech about this cause from my point of view i dont think its right that just because a person goes dressed with a $100 suit or bested dressed they get the job and the person who tries there best to dress up good or fancy dont get the job. One solution that i think is good is that i think anybody should get a chance and if they mess up with their chance well i guess they get fired. ReplyDeleteThis world carries many old and new problems everyday , and its only increasing as time fly's. A problem identified in this day age is the indulgement toward materialistic objects. Yes, we all need clothes for our back, shoes for our feet ,and hats for our heads. Yes , we would like it to come with quality and not thirft store qualified, but what if you had no choice , what if today was the ending . Would it matter if you were wearing reebok or Jordans , Would it matter if you had on AX or a shirt from Marshalls. Your main focus will be food, a necessity. Clothes is a necessity , the quality is a preference. When you believe the quality is a necessity it becomes a problem , everything you want has to be the named brand or its not good enough. It will run through how you live life , you will feel as if this named brand material makes you better than the next man with the thrift store jeans. As if the label give you some type of status. What if today was the ending?, and you have a closet full of levi's, true's, antiques,and more . The man with the thrift store jeans has a closet full of food , at this time thrift store man is the better man because he can provide for his family and has a more chance of surviving than you. The point is not to worship the materialist things in life because at the end of the day it is only a material not life . I want to bring this problem to the attention of viewers of all varieties and ages to inform that your sold once you worship these priceless materials . Not only clothes is materialistic , furniture , T.V , phones, PC , and more .These are all distractions from the reality , and thou were forced to live with them were not force to worship them. A solution to this problem is fairly easy , just keep a mindset that this is only an object not life ,i would not give my life for this object , this object can not give me life. Fairly easy for some but not as easy for the blind that are distracted by these items.
