Welcome back to Crossland, and welcome to our virtual classroom! This will be a place for you to contact me any time of the day, and a place where we can continue our classroom discussions outside of the classroom. If you have questions or concerns about an assignment, you can reach me here or via email. Every week I will post a blog related to something we're doing in the classroom. Once a week you will be required to respond to the question for a weekly Blog homework assignment.
Week one blog assignment: Tell me about one powerful experience you had over the summer. Using as much description as possible, tell me why this experience had such an impact on you. Did the experience help you grow as an individual? Was it positive or negative? In your response, after your FULL NAME (first and last, no nick names please!) please write the period/day you have me for English class (2A, 3A, 2B, or 3B)!
Again, welcome to a new school year! I look forward to working with you face-to-face in room 222, and I look forward to communicating here in our virtual classroom!

ReplyDeleteA experience i had over the summer was me breaking my toe. When i first hit it i didn't know what to do, my toe was bent all the way to the left, the next day i ended up going to the hospital. I ended up having to get crutches. Sadly because of my broken toe i was not able to go swimming. With this experience i will learn to be more careful.

ReplyDeleteover the summer the only experience I got was that,I should be more responsible. The reason being was that I lost my phone with my stuff on it and my parents said that they will not buy another one until later in the year. I will have to suffer the consequences and learn to be more responsible. It was a positive impact and it teached me next time to take responsibility for my actions.

ReplyDeleteOver the summer i had an experience... i went to a family event where i didnt know anyone. It was scary to me because it felt like i walked into a room where everyone was watching me. After a while i got to talk and spend time with them. This experience was positive to me because even if you dont know anyone and they are your family you should get to know them because they are showing their love.

Glad you learned not to leave your sister alone in a park, Jennifer!
I hope you make it back to Mexico one day, Diana!
Sorry about your grandfather, Fernando. It's hard when grandparents die. I've also lost most of my grandparents.
Tyrell, I'm glad you had some bonding time with your stepfather.
Thanks everyone who responded to this blog so far. This summer I had a good time with my mother-in-law from Hungary. My wife is Hungarian, as I mentioned to you all in class. Her mother was recently diagnosed with cancer, but this summer she was in good spirits, and healthy. She's really fighting off the illness, and it was very moving to spend part of the summer with her before my summer job started. We take our loved ones for granted at times. This experience taught me to spend more quality time with loved ones because we never know what might take them away from us.
I'll see you all in class!

jamil kEY 3B One day during the summer I hepled an elderly woman who couldn't do yard work on her own. I worked for an hour and when she tried to pay me I didn't take it so that day I learned that it's good to help people without expecting anything in return.

Sharese,
ReplyDeleteGlad you got to spend some time with good friends at the cook out!
Rico,
Glad your back on the East Coast! How old were you when you moved to CA?
Tonia,
Sorry about your uncle. Were you close to him? How’s the nose doing?
Darius,
Will you play for the football team here as well?
Shiesha,
Glad you got to spend some time with your “fake” sister and grandmother.
Joi,
Glad you got to spend some time with your twin. Will you be one the cheerleading team at Crossland?
Katelin,
Yes, it’s a good idea to keep your fights away from church! I like your conclusion. Katelin, you don’t have to capitalize all of your letters, ok! Only the letters that need to be capitalized! Job well done. I’m glad you had a good summer and learned to keep your fights out of “God’s House”!
Jocelyn,
Glad you’re on the cheerleading team! I’m sure you all will be great. Anytime I take my kids to Crossland games they always love the dances and chants that you all do. Impressive.
Jamil,
Glad you spend some time this summer helping the elderly!
Leah,
Glad you don’t want to work things out with your without fighting. This is good…
Tamia,
The movies and summer go hand in hand. Glad you got to see some good ones with your friends. Make sure you don’t capitalize every word in your sentences – only the ones that need to be capitalized!
